The Stadt ohne Meer Festival was launched by OK KID in Giessen in 2018 and has also taken place in Cologne since 2024. From the very beginning, the idea was to create a festival that artists and visitors alike would love. Genres don't matter here. Hip-hop and punk rock stand alongside folk and electronic music. What matters is the mix of diverse acts, a clear political stance, fair ticket prices and artist fees, and a strong attention to detail and design. „Was beide Städte verbindet, ist eine gewisse Hässlichkeit im Städtebau, aber eine umso größere Schönheit, was die Art und das Herz der Menschen betrifft. Stadt ohne Meer passt somit auch perfekt zu Köln.“ — Jonas Schubert (OK KID) Translation: What both cities share is a certain ugliness in their architecture, but an even greater beauty when it comes to the character and heart of the people. That’s why Stadt ohne Meer is also a perfect fit for Cologne.
